Château Piganeau Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2022

The 5.8-hectare vineyard sits on the right bank of the Dordogne River, close to the historic port of Saint-Émilion. The soil is composed of sand and gravel, contributing to the wine’s elegance and finesse. The vines, averaging 30 years old, benefit from an oceanic climate—cool, wet winters and warm, dry summers. The vineyard practices sustainable farming and holds the High Environmental Value certification.

In the glass, it shows a vibrant ruby color. The nose is expressive with ripe black fruits, fresh mint, and subtle vanilla. On the palate, it’s smooth and rounded, featuring red berries, cherry, and gentle spice. Its texture is soft and supple with silky tannins, making it more elegant than powerful.

Grapes are mechanically harvested with care. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with a one-week alcoholic fermentation followed by two weeks of maceration. Malolactic fermentation lasts a few months. The wine is then aged: 50% in French oak barrels (1/3 new) and 50% on oak staves, both for 12 months.

This wine pairs beautifully with duck, roast meats, charcuterie, white meats, and aged cheeses. Best served around 16–18°C. Ideal for cozy dinners or celebratory meals alike.
